With profound sadness, the family of Dr. Winnifred Dawn Armstrong announces her peaceful passing on February 4, 2026, following a brief battle with cancer.
Dawn was born in Flin Flon, Manitoba, on May 28th, 1958. A lifelong learner and dedicated educator, she graduated from the University of Winnipeg, beginning a career defined by her passion for sharing knowledge. She served with CUSO, teaching Science in Niger for two years-- an experience that shaped her commitment to service and global community.
After returning to Canada, Dawn pursued her chiropractic studies at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, earning her degree and embarking on a vocation that would touch countless lives. She opened her first chiropractic practice in Toronto, later establishing practices in Whitehorse, Yukon, and ultimately, in Comox, British Columbia, where she and her husband. John Boal, made their home. Comox became the community they cherished and embraced wholeheartedly.
Dawn was predeceased by her parents, Wreaford and Florence Armstrong (Nee Clucas). She is lovingly remembered by her husband John, her son Todd and his family, and her sisters; Karen (Max, Kate & Mathew) and Jill (Bob).
Dawn's loss is immeasurable. She was a beautiful soul--- deeply loved, widely respected, and admired by her family, friends, and the many patients whose lives she enriched. Many of those she cared for became close friends, a testament to her warmth, compassion, and genuine connection with others.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Doctors, Nurses, and staff at the Comox Valley Hospital for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Dawn throughout her illness.
In honour of Dawn's memory and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
