On November 22, 2022, William (Bill) Service of Courtenay, BC passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Bill is survived by his children Kim, Karey, Bill Jr (Janet), Christopher (Sharon), and Tammy (Tom); his seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Bill was predeceased by his wife Margaret, his brother James Jr, parents James and Mary, and son in-laws Lloyd and Jim.
Bill was born on July 3, 1936, in Athabasca, Alberta. His family moved to Edmonton when he was 5 years old. He eventually became a firefighter for the City of Edmonton. He retired in 1992 as a District Chief. That same year Bill and Margaret moved to the Comox Valley.
Bill will be remembered for his kindness and compassion for others. He was a wood worker, mechanic, a handyman and a jack of all trades who could fix anything. A family gathering will be held at a later date.
