William Kaye Oldham

Dr. William Kaye Oldham (Bill to his friends and colleagues) was born in Cumberland on Vancouver Island, BC on May 27, 1936.  He left this earth on Oct 6th, 2020, from his home in Merville, just a few miles from where he was born.  His roots were on Vancouver Island, but his family and career took him all over the world.

We feel sure he is now with his beloved soulmate Jacqueline Claire, who predeceased him in 2010.  He is also predeceased by his parents and his sister, and leaves behind a brother, two adult children, two adult grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.  His family is forever grateful for his love and support over his long life.  We also appreciate and are proud of the important contributions he made in his career, which have been instrumental in reducing the negative impacts of wastewater, through his own work in environmental engineering as well as sharing his expertise and wisdom with his students. ​The passion he always had in his distinguished career has encouraged each of us to be aware of and work to reduce our own footprints on this earth, while supporting initiatives that help to move us towards environmental sustainability as a society.  Most importantly, we honour, remember, and hope to emulate his personal qualities – he was always fair, honest and kind, with a ready and witty sense of humor.

There will be no funeral at his expressed request.  In lieu of flowers please feel encouraged to donate to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
