Wayne Foulds
April 18, 1947-September 10, 2025
It is with deepest sadness that the family announces the passing of Wayne Foulds after a courageous lengthy battle with cancer.
Born Lawrence Wayne Foulds but known throughout his entire life as “Wayne” he leaves his immediate family to mourn his passing: his wife Merle, son Daryl [Diana], daughter Tracy, granddaughters Kailee [Tim], Staci [Cory], Danielle [Kyle] who are all appreciative of his time with us. Within the last 5 years the joy of becoming a “Great Grandpa-Papa Wayne” to two great granddaughters [Demi and Summer] brought an extra smile and grin to his face.
Wayne grew up and lived most of his life in Nanaimo, from his early childhood in Harewood to raising his family in central Nanaimo.
The vast local friendships that he created and carried from his school days to the Royal Coachman Car Club in the 1960’s-70’s to his later years as a founding member of Smokin’ Oldies Car Club in 1994 meant a lot to him. Those special people have always been there with him and with our family.
Wayne spent his entire adult working career in the excavating industry. He operated heavy equipment in the family business with his two brothers and a nephew from the late 1960’s to early 1980’s. Wayne then became an excavator owner operator which eventually led him to join Hub Excavating where he spent most of his final 25 years prior to retirement.
Wayne’s personality and his ability at work was to contribute as part of the crew from the seat of his machine and do the best they could each day together. The core group of guys together spanned almost a 50-year relationship for some, lots of good stories are still being told, and the friendships are a part of our family.
The Foulds family would like to thank everyone who has reached out to us with heartfelt condolences.
A casual “Celebration of Life” will be held at Nanaimo Curling Club, 106 Wall Street on
