It is with sadness that we share the news of the peaceful passing of Wayne Ford on May 7th, 2025, at this home in Comox BC. He had just celebrated his 82nd birthday and had the opportunity to visit with friends and family prior to his passing.
Wayne was born Wayne George Ursu on April 14th, 1943, in Vancouver BC to Constantine (Don) Ursu and Amy Sinclair. The Ursu family hailed from Kayville Saskatchewan, and the Sinclair’s came from Rocky Mountain House Alberta. As kids, Wayne and his brother Bob would get into mischief in various places where Con (Don) found work including remote forestry camps such as Chamiss Bay BC.
Wayne was a loving husband to Linda Ford over the past ten years and gained many stepchildren by marriage including Stacey, Melanie, Mark and Darren. Wayne had two children of his own – Shane Ford and Raegan Eisfeld – and five grandchildren – Tallis Messenger-Ford, Ellery Messenger-Ford, Tyler Eisfeld, Lauren Eisfeld, and Kate Eisfeld.
Wayne and Linda's relationship blossomed after a period of mourning for them both as their spouses had passed away some years earlier. Prior to meeting Linda, Wayne was happily married to Iris Kean and was a caring stepfather to her children Anita, Neil, and Loretta and he remained an important part of their lives until his passing.
As a young man, Wayne followed his older brother into military service and served in Canada and abroad. It was during a posting in Manitoba that he met and married his first wife, Sharon Ford (née Murray) and moved to BC to start their life together.
Wayne was a knowledgeable and friendly retail and wholesale hardware expert for over 30+ years with a successful real estate career wedged firmly in between. Post retirement, Wayne’s time with Linda allowed them both to experience the world whether it was visiting the Mexican Riviera, a tour of China or the Mediterranean, or cruise around the Arabian peninsula, they were inseparable travelers and much envied by their kids. His favourite city was Dubai.
When not travelling the world, Wayne and Linda could be found in local Vancouver Island campgrounds, occasionally gold-panning in the interior of BC. or tending their beautiful garden and backyard in Comox that they so loved together.
