Victor Fish Obituary

Victor Grant Fish

May 24, 1931 – September 5, 2025

Victor (Vic) Grant Fish passed away September 5, 2025, at the age of 94 in Nanaimo, BC. Vic was born in Oshawa, Ontario on May 31, 1931, son of Joseph and Margaret Fish.

Vic was preceded in death by his loving wife of 71 years, Patricia (d. May 23, 2025); grandson Sean Brossard (d. July 20, 2025); siblings Alexander Fish, Jean (Fish) Dobson and Helen (Fish) Musgrave.

He is survived by his 3 children – Robert (Jen), Cheryl (Dean dcd), Laura (Joe), 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. Vic also leaves many nieces, nephews and stepfamily in England.

The Fish family moved to Vancouver in 1937, settling in North Vancouver.  Vic completed high school at North Vancouver High School. After a brief stint of travelling, Vic started work with the City of North Vancouver in the Engineering Department. He found engineering to his liking, working at several construction companies and notable projects in the lower mainland – Lions Bay Development, Burrard Thermal Plant, Mission Dam at Bridge River and Highbury Tunnel.

Vic and Pat met in North Vancouver, marrying in 1953. Vic eventually transferred to Victoria where the family moved and settled for several years. After living in Comox for a few years Vic and Pat returned to Vancouver in 1986 where Vic found a new pursuit with BC Transit working in security during the World Expo ’86.  Vic retired in 1992 when he and Pat returned to Comox. Vic occupied his time with golf and working at the townhouse complex they lived in.

Vic truly loved being a grandpa – he took an active role in the life of his grandson Sean - taking him fishing and spending many hours with him. As more grandchildren came along, they enjoyed regular visits and vacations with their grandparents.

Vic and Pat made a final move to Nanaimo where they could be closer to family.  They spent a few quiet years together caring for one another. Staying close, Dad followed Mom, not letting her get too far ahead of him.
