Thomas Macklin Obituary

The family of Tom Macklin are very saddened to announce his passing on Sunday February 21st at the age of 91.

He was born in Jasper, Alberta on Nov 27th, 1929. At the age of seven he moved to Quadra Island.  He met and married June Brunsgaard and started his family.  He later moved to Campbell River.

When he was a young man he worked as a fisherman. In 1958 he got hired on at the Elk Falls mill.  He worked at the mill for 33 years, mostly as a millwright.

Dad and mom (June) parted company and dad met his second wife Verna.

Dad had a full life.  He joined the Tide Rippers scuba club in CR and scuba dived for many years.  He enjoyed music and strumming his guitar.  He square danced for many years.  He liked to ski and even skied in the Alps.  He was able to do lots of traveling with Verna after he retired.

He is survived by his wife Verna of 44 years.  Sister Mary Haines, brother John Macklin.  He is also survived by his children T. Michael Macklin, Dave Macklin (Elrieda), Nancy Curley, Jennifer Green (Chuck) and J. Norman Macklin (Sherry).  He is also survived by his stepchildren and their families; John (Patty), David, Evelynn (Bruce), Laurie (John), Bobby and Willow as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.

He was well liked by all who met him.  He was much loved by all his family.  He really was a good man.  Dad will be truly missed.

A service on Quadra will be held at a later date.
