Theodore “Ted” Gregory Rounis May 31st, 1948 - January 4th, 2023.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Theodore Gregory Rounis. At 74 years old Ted passed away peacefully in Nanaimo, British Columbia. Ted was born in Stolos, Kynourias, Greece to Eleni and Gregory Rounis, the eldest sibling to Christos, Anastasios and George. At the age of 14, Ted attended mechanical school in Tripoli. After graduation, he went on to the merchant freighters where he travelled the world. Upon return, he joined the Greek Army and was stationed in Thessaloniki. After serving in the army he helped send his brothers to Canada. In 1970, he immigrated to Regina, Saskatchewan where he started his career in the hospitality industry. In 1973, he met his future wife Helen Ioannidis and a year later they were married and welcomed their first child Gregory and two years later their second child Eleni, in Nanaimo BC. Here the three brothers laid the foundation of their future, at Little Lumber Restaurant. Ted’s pride in his Greek culture was deeply instilled in his children. He was very vocal and proud in celebrating his friendships.

In 2013, once retired, Ted enjoyed the true meaning of life spending his days with family, and friends and travelling. He is treasured by his family, and friends and will be sorely missed. Ted leaves the world a better place through his family, kindness and direct approach to life. Ted is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Helen Rounis; son, Gregory (Bonnitta) Rounis; daughter, Eleni (David) Matias; and 3 grandchildren: Sofia, Alexander and Thalia.

The viewing will be held on January 11th, 2023 6:30pm-7:30pm at Telford’s (112 French St, Ladysmith BC) and the service will be held on January 12th, 2023 at 2:30pm at St Mary’s Parish (1135 4th Ave, Ladysmith BC ).
