T. O'Flynn Obituary

T. Edna O’Flynn, of Port Hardy, BC, died peacefully on November 30, 2023 at home with her daughter, daughter’s husband and beloved dog Bailey (pictured) at her bedside.

She was born on February 27, 1941, to Sarah Elizabeth Tribe and Norman Albert Tribe in Penticton, BC.

Edna had 2 children, Norman O’Flynn and Kellie Dukes (O’Flynn).

She worked for many years at School District No.85 first as the secretary of San Josef School in Holberg, then as the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Clerk at the School Board Office in Port Hardy. Although, she enjoyed both jobs tremendously, her time as school secretary was always her favourite job which she often spoke of fondly. She loved “her kids” especially the “troublemakers”!

Edna thoroughly enjoyed gardening, particularly growing begonias by the dozens, her many dogs and birds over the years and her family. She was a gypsy at heart and adored going for a drive. Christmas was her favourite time of year where she would decorate her multiple trees and put up her many wreaths etc. She believed there were 5 seasons and Christmas was the fifth! She had an incredible sense of humour and wit right to the end which the doctors and nurses caring for her commented on repeatedly.

Edna is survived by her daughter Kellie (husband Andrew), son Norman, brother Norman (wife Sharon), sister-in-law Lynn and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mom (Sarah Tribe), father (Albert Tribe), sister (Dorothy) and brother (John).

As she requested, there will not be a funeral service. There will be a gathering in memory of Edna at her daughters home in February. Interment of her ashes will be in April at the Penticton Cemetery. For further information call 250-230-0095.
