It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sylvia Lenore Carlson on October 11,2025; peacefully at home in her sleep. Arrangements in care of Telford, Toneff and Boyd Burial and Cremation Centre. - wwwtelfordtoneffboyd.ca  

Sylvia was born on May 13, 1941 in Edmonton, Alberta to William and Elsie Pike. She was the youngest of eight children.  Predeceased by her parents, as well as her brothers - Harold, David, Gordon; sisters - Margret (Peggy) Benson, Dorothy Smee and Phyllis Carlow. In laws - Ernest and Bertha Carlson; sister in law - Diane Carlson.

She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Gerald (Gerry) Carlson; son Robert (Eileen) Carlson; daughter Laura (Bill) Bennett; Jeffrey Carlson; Colleen (Jan) De Wolde; 11 grandchildren - Kyle, Alyssa, Brayden, Spencer, Christopher, Jordan, Celine, Tyler, Chase, Brock, Isabel; 5 great grandchildren- Clayton, Chloe, Kayden, Hope and Noah. One brother - Stanley (Pauline) Pike, brother in law Paul Carlson, sister in law Ruth (Mike) VanStrien. Also to mourn her loss are numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Sylvia was a loving wife, mom, grandma, great grandma, sister/in law, auntie and friend.

She will be deeply missed by all those whom crossed paths with her threw her journey of life.

Sylvia loved spending time with her family and friends; especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren since she could spoil them and send them home to their parents.

She was a crafty lady who enjoyed sewing clothing for her children and grandchildren. Some of her other passions where needle points, ceramics, crocheting blankets, pillow covers, dollies, curtains and much more.

She loved spending time with family and friends entertaining over home cooked meals, baking, playing cards, bingo, camping, gardening, smelling the roses, and since moving to Vancouver Island in October of 2014 watching the sunrise and the hummingbirds flitting around her flower garden.

A celebration of life was held for Sylvia on Saturday October 18th, 2025 at the Town and Country Clubhouse, 10980 Westdowne Road, Ladysmith,BC the community centre where they reside, for family and friends that mom and dad have made during their time on this Island. We couldn’t have asked for a more welcoming, inviting group of friends/family. We are so grateful for all of your love and support! Words cannot express how much!

Graveside service will be held on Wednesday October 29, 2025 at 11:00am.

There will be another Celebration of Life for Sylvia in May 2026 (date to be announced at a later time). Held in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan for family and friends that were unable to join us at this time.
