Susan Beauchamp ( nee Speck ) Obituary

In Loving Memory of

Susan Patricia Beauchamp (nee Speck

August 24, 1936 - July 24, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mom and grandma, Sue Beauchamp, on July 24th at the age of 87.

Sue is survived by her daughter, Coren Finlay (Rob), her son, Blair Beauchamp, her grandchildren, Sean, Paige and Maiya as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Sue was born in Victoria and grew up in Oak Bay.  She had a wonderful childhood with her parents, Jack and Janet Speck, as well as her older brother, Ron.  They enjoyed many fun times together at the Crystal Garden (where Jack was employed as the manager) and the family cabin at Shawnigan Lake.  As an adult, Birch Bay was her favourite place to visit and she enjoyed many annual vacations there with her own children.

After becoming a single parent in the early 1970’s, Sue went to work at a private medical lab,  and worked there until she retired in 2001.  Following her retirement she enjoyed doing volunteer work on a regular basis at Carefree Society in Richmond for many years.

Sue was a woman of many talents:  a loving mama to many Siamese cats, a skilled seamstress of Halloween and dance costumes and an amazing cook - her sugar cookies for every special occasion and her Sunday night roast beef dinners became legendary.

For all that she accomplished during her life, Sue was most proud of her three grandchildren.  She was the ultimate hands-on grandma and loved taking the kids out on all kinds of adventures at places like Stanley Park, Granville Island and the local beaches.  Her family and her many friends were always what mattered most to Sue.  She will truly be missed but her smile and laughter will live on forever in our memories.

Our family would like to thank the exceptional physicians and nurses at Nanaimo Hospital, who took such great care of Sue in her last days.

A celebration of Sue’s life is being planned for September.  In lieu of flowers, please consider an online donation to Variety - the Children’s Charity of B.C. under team name:  Sue Beauchamp - In Memoriam
