Sandra Anne (Kitchenham) Thompson

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sandra Anne Thompson (née Kitchenham) on November 27, 2025, at the Aitken Community Hospice in Courtenay. She passed peacefully, surrounded by family, at the age of 66, after facing brain cancer with grace and strength.

Sandra was born on March 1, 1959, in Gosport, Hampshire, England, to John Walter Kitchenham and Margaret (née Ancell) Kitchenham. As a child she lived in England, Yemen, and Malaysia before her family settled in Canada. In 2008, she moved to the Comox Valley, which she was grateful to call home.

Sandra is lovingly remembered by her husband Gilburn (Bernie) Thompson; her sons, Jason (Carmel), and Aaron (Lisa Marie); and her daughter-in-law, Jolene. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Joshua, Sara, Julia, Hannah, Noah, Emma, Isaac, and Isabelle, who brought her immense pride and joy. She is also survived by her siblings Linda (Doug) Bowes and Andrew (Carol) Faust-Kitchenham; and her sister-in-law Gena Jones-Kitchenham.

She was predeceased by her beloved son Derek; her parents John and Margaret Kitchenham; and her brother Michael Kitchenham.

Sandra will be remembered for her gentle nature, her strength, and the deep love she held for her family and her faith.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff and volunteers at the Aitken Community Hospice for the exceptional care, compassion, and dignity they provided to Sandra in her final days. Their kindness will never be forgotten.

A private gathering of family and close friends to honour Sandra’s life will be held at a later date.
