Russell Richard McCorkindale

APRIL 2, 2023: Russell Richard McCorkindale (October 29, 1928 - April 2, 2023).  Passed away at Evergreen Seniors Home in Campbell River.  Predeceased by his wife (Helen Margaret 2013 nee Hamilton).  Survived by his three children: Mary Margaret (Morley Johnson), Richard Bruce (Lynne Freed) and Catherine Helen (Ted Murchison); six grandchildren Cameron (Vanessa) Johnson, Sheena (Colin) Wilbur; Alexandria McCorkindale, Victoria McCorkindale; Sonja Murchison (Paul Lin), Jacqueline Murchison; and three great grandchildren: Willow Johnson, Rowena Johnson and Arthur Wilbur.

Russ was a long-time sports fan of the B.C. Lions, Vancouver Canucks and the Toronto Blue Jays as well as an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman.  He began working at Valley Lumber as a teenager, finishing more than 40 years later.   Helen and Russ were married in 1950 and celebrated 62 wedding anniversaries together.  During retirement Helen and Russ travelled internationally to places like Australia, Portugal, and Hawaii, in addition to spending many of the winter months in Southern California and Arizona.

A celebration of life will be held at a date to be determined following interment at Surrey Centre Cemetery on Old McLellan Road in Surrey.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the BC Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of BC and Yukon.  Condolences may be left for the family @ www. telfordtoneffboyd.ca.
