It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Ronald (Ron) Campbell Krug, who left us peacefully on July 3, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on November 17, 1936, in Stewart, British Columbia to John Walter Krug and Mary Campbell Krug. Ron lived a life defined by quiet strength, deep compassion, and a boundless thirst for knowledge.
Ronald was the beloved husband of Sharon Jean Krug, with whom he shared a lifelong bond full of love, partnership, and mutual respect. Together, Ron and Sharon created a blended family that reflected the depth of their love and openness. Their home welcomed stepchildren, biological children, and an adopted son, all raised with the same unwavering love and commitment.
He is lovingly survived by his daughters: Marion Darlene Krug, Ronnice Joan Krug (Jimmy), Barbara Gail MacKay, Valerie Karen Lamirande (Richard), and Susan Jean Niver (Marty). He was predeceased by his beloved sons, Fredrick John Krug (Hisako), Charles Donald Krug, and Ronald James Krug, whose memories he carried dearly in his heart. Ron was also predeceased by his older brothers, Angus John Krug and Malcolm Norman Krug and beloved sister Joyce Marion Krug.
Ron leaves behind his sister Cathy Morreau (the late Lorrie Morreau) and his brothers John (Brenda) and Don (Mary). along with a legacy carried proudly by his grandchildren: Amanda (Brad), Rhiannon, Christopher, Kazuma, Erika, Ian, Jill (Chris), Jenna (Wayne), and Jessi (Darryl); great-grandchildren: Mariah, Jesse (Keith), Ava, Dusk, Lunaca, Shea, Leo, Nash, Miller, Keira, Chloe, Sawyer, Lacey; and one great-great-grandchild, Paisley.
Ronald’s legacy lives on not only in the family who loved him dearly but also in the brilliant mind that touched and inspired so many. He was widely regarded as one of the most intelligent individuals those around him had the privilege to know. A lifelong learner, Ronald pursued knowledge with passion—through books, meaningful conversation, self education, and deep personal reflection. His intellectual curiosity was boundless, and his thirst for understanding was truly remarkable.
A memorial service to celebrate Ron’s life will be held on August 16, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at 5705 North Island Highway, Campbell River (Middlepoint Shop Yard), where he worked for 15 years.
