Robert "Bob" Joseph Lesage

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Lesage on August 15, 2024. He passed away peacefully at Comox Valley Seniors Village where he spent the last seven and a half years of his life, eventually losing his battle with dementia, with his loving son at his side.

Robert was born in Louiseville, Quebec and was an only child.  He joined the Air Force in 1961 and was based in Cold Lake where he met his wife of 58 years, Judy Krebs.  From there he had postings to Quebec, Edmonton, Winnipeg and Comox, where he settled with her and three children. In 1983 Robert spent 6 months on UN duty based in Damascus, Syria where Judy spent a wonderful 3 weeks with him, touring Israel and Cairo, Egypt.

After 29 years in the Air Force he worked at Mountain Meadows as a ski technician and skate sharpener among other duties. He enjoyed his time as Commissionaire at the Base, and the last several years volunteering at the Comox Air Force Museum where he loved guiding visitors, telling endless stories and joking around. Throughout his life Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, mountain biking and riding his motorcycles.

His outgoing and fun-loving nature afforded him the opportunity to easily make friends wherever he went. Great memories were made with his grandsons while biking around Comox and trips to Texada Island. They shared a love of motorcycles and Robert had so much joy passing on his experiences and hands on upkeep and repair with them. Along with model trains and building model airplanes, he enjoyed searching for the latest and greatest hot wheels cars for his growing collection. He will be sorely missed.

Robert was a loving husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa and uncle.  He is survived by his wife Judy, his children Darren (Nathalie), Michelle (Geoff) Kirk and Jeffrey. He was blessed to have his grandchildren Kyle (Sarah), Nicholas (Emily), Jordan, Brady and Jesse, and great grandchildren Harvey, Isla, Clark, Elenni, Isabella and Zachary, all living nearby.  Also, survived by brothers in law Gilbert, Marvin (Sue) and nieces Jen and Katie (Reiner) of Edmonton AB.

Robert’s celebration of life will be held on Oct 5th, from 1 to 3 pm at Little Red Church in Comox at 2182 Comox Ave. The Family requests in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to Y.A.N.A. Bring your memories and stories to share.
