Robert (Bob) Lasby Obituary

Bob Lasby passed away in Evergreen Seniors Home on the morning of Feb. 20, 2020 at the age of 90.
He is predeceased by his wife, Margaret in 2018.
He is survived by his daughters, Sandy McCairns and Merril Lasby-McDougall (Darrell McDougall); son, Mark Lasby (Loree Sutherland); granddaughters, Jennifer Rice (Dave Ritchie) and Megan Wilson (Jordan) and great granddaughters, Amelia and Anastasia Wilson.
Bob was born in Buffalo, New York. He grew up in Niagara Falls, New York. After graduating high school, Bob and his father moved to Turkey Point, Ontario to run a bar and resort. This is where Bob met and married Margaret McCairns in 1954. During their early married life, Bob and Marg lived in several small mining towns across Canada while Bob was pursuing a career as a mining geologist. In 1967 they settled down in Edmonton for a few years. In 1972 they moved to an acreage east of Edmonton where they built a geodesic dome for their home. In 1990 Bob and Marg retired to Heriot Bay. In the ensuing years Bob became active in the Quadra Island community and was one of the driving forces behind the first seniors housing project in Quathiaski Cove.
A celebration of life will be held for Bob later in the year after travel plans for friends and relatives across Canada can be finalized.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Quadra Island Seniors Housing Society (qishs.ca) in Bob’s name.
