Ray passed away peacefully in hospital, April 8th, 2025, with his daughters by his side.
Ray was born in Saskatoon and grew up in Vonda, Saskatchewan. In his 20’s he moved to Edmonton,
Alberta, where he lived out his dream of playing music professionally, married Lynne and had two
daughters. In his 30’s he moved his family out to Campbell River, BC where he resided most of
his life.
He made his living as a painter for the Campbell River School Board and in his free time enjoyed
salmon fishing and playing in bands on the weekends. He had a big personality and was
known for his wit and great sense of humour. He was a friend of Bill W. and strived to have “an
attitude of gratitude” in his life.
He is survived by his daughters Michelle Martineau and Kim
Bebenek (Wayne), and grandsons Matthew and Stanley Bebenek, Siblings: Albert (Terri)
Martineau, Aline Holinski, Lillian Martineau, Denise (Bill) Procyshyn, Jackie (Greg) Procyshyn,
and Joe Martineau, Brothers and Sisters in-law: Sheila Bernard, Pam (Bob) Breit, Owen (Myrna)
Bendig, Mary-Lou and Faye Bendig, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his
wife Lynne (Bendig), his grandson Andrew, his parents Alonzo and Cecile and siblings and in-laws,
Alphonse, Bernadette (Peter), Terri (Dave), Frank, Tara and Bernard.
Ray will be deeply missed by all.
