Phyllis Rivers

Phyllis, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. As usual, she was in full control of her life and chose to use MAiD. She was so happy and full of joy for the full week leading up to her leaving this planet. In attendance when she departed was her son’s family, Randy, Chris, and Tianna Grey, along with her cherished extended family of Anne, Matt, Natasha Hope, and Clinton Smith. She lived the last 23 years at Windsong Condos, where she had close friends. Before this, she raised her son in Lantzville while teaching elementary school. She often told stories of her students she taught while at Cilaire school in Departure Bay. She originally came from Calgary with her two parents, Martin and Helene Opsal, and 3 sisters Sophie, Eva, and Judy, all of whom have passed away. In her last few years, she connected with Norwegian family members, which brought her much joy, as she always felt strongly about her Norwegian roots.

In choosing her departure time, she will not be having a memorial service, as her family and many friends had the opportunity to wish her well and godspeed to her next dimension.
