Phillip Hewitt Obituary

Phil Hewitt passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 23, 2025, Born on October 21, 1966, Phil lived a life that was loud, messy, and truly unforgettable. He rejected pretense, lived authentically, and measured his wealth not in possessions, but in the depth of his bonds.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Phil was a charismatic force. He was a man who touched everyone he met, defined by an unpredictable mix of fierce loyalty and, as he would often admit with a grin, his notoriously endearing "asshole tendencies." This complex honesty was central to his charm, you always knew where you stood with Phil, and that truth was a gift.

Phil had a deep passion for the simple joys of the natural world and the resonance of a good chord. He loved fishing, camping, and especially his music. An avid guitarist, Phil poured his soul into his instrument, sharing his energy as a founding member of the local band SKANKWAGON. Later in life, this passion evolved as he got into the rewarding, painstaking craft of guitar building, creating instruments that were as unique and solid as he was. He was a master of the campfire story and the spontaneous song, effortlessly sharing laughter and music with everyone around him. Above all, Phil was the man who showed up. If anyone needed him, whether for heavy lifting, genuine advice, or just raising a glass, he was there, no questions asked, embodying loyalty without condition.

He is survived by his loving Wife, Son, Granddaughter and many nieces and nephews, all of whom carry a piece of his big, boisterous heart and irreverent spirit.

Phil left a distinct, indelible mark on every life he touched. He will be remembered and missed most deeply:

• Around campfires, where the echo of the stories he told, both true and wildly embellished, will be shared and re-shared.

• On the lakes and rivers, where his fishing lines will remain a legend, a testament to his patience and love for the game of fishing.

• In every song strummed with love, carrying the enduring, loud, and unmistakable melody of his spirit.

Rest easy, big fella. Your love lives on, fully dimensional, wonderfully complicated, and treasured, asshole tendencies and all.
