Patrick Bryan Obituary

Bryan, Patrick Robert

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Patrick Robert Bryan, who passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025 at Nanaimo Regional Hospital at the age of 93. Predeceased by siblings Vernon, Tommy and Janet Margetts, and survived by Michael Turner and Deanna Anderson.

A pillar of strength and a beacon of love, his absence leaves a void in our hearts. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 65 years, Melinda, and a loving father to Patrice Mauriks (John), Don (Selena), and grandfather to Matt (Tessa), Zach Mauriks (Grace), Kira Mauriks, and Mitch, along with great grand-daughter Kaia.

Pat grew up in Trail and began his working career with Cominco. He went on to complete his Engineering Physics degree and teacher training at UBC. He spent most of his working life as a math teacher and principal in Trail, Lake Cowichan, Ladysmith, and Nanaimo Schools. He retired in 1988 at age 57.

Pat was a founding & long-time member of the Ladysmith Rotary club, helping to build the Ladysmith golf course and boat ramp. He was an enthusiastic skier and an avid golfer up to the age of 90, playing twice a week at the Mt Brenton Golf Club.

Pat and Melinda travelled the world together, with many trips & cruises to Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia.  They spent many winters down south with friends in California & Arizona.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.  A Celebration of Life will be held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Hall in Ladysmith (921 First Ave) on Sunday April 6th @ 1pm. We will forever cherish the memories of his wisdom and unwavering love.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in the name of Patrick Bryan to BC Children’s Hospital http://www.bcchildrens.ca/donate.
