Patricia Fish ( nee Bayly ) Obituary

Telford Obituary for Patricia Fish

Mrs Patricia Anne Fish (nee Bayly) passed away on May 23, 2025.  She was born in Calgary, AB on September 8, 1936, daughter of Margaret and Charlie Bayly.

She leaves many family members who will miss her loving spirit and kind heart.  Left to mourn is her loving husband of 71 yrs, Victor Fish, 3 children – Robert (Jen), Cheryl (Dean dcd), Laura (Joe) and 7 grandchildren, 10 great children, and 1 great great granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.  Pat was also older sister to Jim, Diane and John (Dobson).

Pat grew up with her loving parents mainly in Horseshoe Bay until her Dad passed when she was 13.  Her mother remarried and Pat became older sister to 3 siblings.  Pat and Vic met in her late teens, falling in love immediately and started a family of their own.  With 3 children, they left North Vancouver and moved to Victoria, where they enjoyed many years of family life working hard to build careers.

Pat always exceled at any job she encountered, having had a very successful career as RCMP support service for 23 years.  She received a commendation from Prime Minister Jean Chretien for her service.  She was also executive member of the PSCA, Solicitor General Component, and bargained for pay equity.  During this time, she and Vic also spent many summers creating happy memories with their grandchildren – swimming in the pool at Brooke Place, and holidaying in the trailer at Harrison Lake.  Pat also found time to coach young girls in softball for several years in the community.

When Pat finally retired from the RCMP, she did not slow down or take it easy.  She had two passions, volunteering at St Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary and was also an avid and dedicated fan of the Toronto Bluejays, sometimes traveling to games in Seattle.  Pat and Vic also spent many summers in the Kelowna area where they enjoyed swimming and biking at their resort on the lake.

Comox was “where their heart was” so when they made the move to Nanaimo, it was a difficult move, but one that brought them closer to family and support.  The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Chartwell staff for their compassionate care during Pat’s last days, and a very special thank you to her doctor of many years in Comox, Dr Laura Potter-Cogan, who would continue to provide care for both Pat and Vic, which included many home visits.

Please remember Pat as you knew her – full of life, laughter and love, and an avid Bluejays fan.  She was vibrant and sassy, she was a firecracker!
