Neil Brian Preston

Robert Brian “Neil” Preston, aged 72, passed away on June 28, 2025, in Nanaimo, BC.
Neil married the love of his life, Fran in 1991 at the beautiful Pipers Lagoon. Together they shared 34 years of marriage. He is survived by his loving wife Fran, his children, Scott (Dawna), Leanne (Jordon), Shannon (Shayne), and stepchildren, Ken (Patricia), Doug (Kendra) and Norman (Jen). Neil also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Neil and Fran spent many memorable winters in Yuma, Arizona, enjoying sunshine and the friendships they made there. In the summers, he could often found boating, fishing, crabbing and exploring the coastal waters around Nanaimo-passions that brough him joy and peace.
Neil took great pride in his ability to fix just about anything. A natural problem-solver and inventive thinker, he approached challenges with creativity and confidence. He was also a passionate storyteller, sharing tales from his life and he thrived to share his knowledge, his accomplishments and his passion for the sea. As an  member of the Nanaimo Yacht Club  for many years, he found pleasure being on the open water.
He will be deeply missed by those who loved him. We take comfort in believing that he has found peace, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
