Michael Langhorn Obituary

Mike became a certified journeyman carpenter and was in the trades since graduating from G.P.Vanier, in 1992. Mike and Laura married shortly after graduation and moved to Alberta and Saskatchewan in various areas until settling at Kitscoty, Alberta. After 12 years away they returned to the Comox Valley in 2012, where he continued working in construction trades finally working with Core Handysides company where he enjoyed working in a variety of projects; condos, Barrage Float Homes, etc. Really varied big projects including four story apartment buildings in Comox Valley and Campbell River areas.

Mike was an avid fisherman of saltwater (local) fish and freshwater trout locally and including all the lakes north of Campbell River. Brewster Lake and Lower Campbell River Lake being his and his family’s favorite spots for fishing and camping as well. We had many great get-togethers at these spots. Our photo albums are filled up with all those trips and such memories which will never be forgotten. Mike was also fabulously great at BBQing and recently took on smoking meats as well as fish caught on outings. He was always trying out new recipes for all of his family to enjoy.

We all played croquette in our backyard at BBQ’s. It got pretty competitive between his dad and Mike. Don usually won but Mike caught up to win often as well. Lots of good memories were had for all of us as a family at BBQ’s or holiday camping trips up at the lakes. They will never be forgotten! Now back to our reality now.

I want to thank Corey (Mike’s boss) in his search to locate Mike. As per text messages a location was sent to Don and Terry where Mike could be located. It was a rush to get there where they waited for RCMP to arrive at the location.

This was a sudden and unexpected event. It brought shock to everyone, but all was explained in a letter located shortly after that was left from Mike.

Grieving by his family and friends, Corey (his boss) and all his work crews and sub tradesmen who had worked on multi projects with Mike. Mike leaves behind his children; Rachel, Andy and Josh Langhorn, Sussonne (family friend), his parents; Don and Terry Langhorn, sister Nicole Jones, Nicole’s family Aarron (Laura) Jones, Gillian Jones, Carter Jones and ex-husband Ron Jones, Mike’s grandparents; Nonie and Red McClure, his uncle; Rick Williams (son Brandon), aunts; Jodie McClure (son Myles), Leslee Yeoman and their families (Robin, Shona and Shelly), Sue and Dave Churchill and cousins; Jared and Kelsey and finally, ex-wife Laura Langhorn, and her parents. There are so many more people in our family we can’t mention them all
