At 91 years of age, our beloved sister, auntie, grandmother and friend went home to be with her Lord and Saviour, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith and grace.
Maura was born in Mexico on November 30, 1934. She worked as a nurse in an orphanage, where she met the love of her life, Earl, and they were married shortly after.
Maura came to Canada in 1972, and made a wonderful life here, with family and friends, whose lives were forever brightened by her kindness, and gentle spirit.
A faithful servant, she lived righteously, guided by her strong faith and a heart committed to caring for others.
Her greatest joy outside her family was found in her garden. She had a special love for flowers, tending them with patience and dedication. Though she will be profoundly missed, we take comfort in knowing her life was beautifully lived and her love will continue to bloom in the hearts of all who knew her.
She is predeceased by her parents; Inez and Cirino, four brothers, two sisters, her nephew; Jimmy and her husband; Earl (in 2009). She is survived by her sisters; Augustina and Nita, nieces; Bianca (Don), and Victoria (Steve), stepchildren; Ed (Brenda) and Jean, grand daughters; Leah (Jason), and Gina and great grandson Brenden as well as many friends and her loving family in Mexico.
We would like to thank the nurses and doctors at the Comox Valley Hospital (3B) where auntie Maura spent nine weeks; and the nurses at Aitkens Hospice in Courtneay.
A Celebration of Maura's life will take place at Fellowship Baptist Church, 2963 Lake Trail Rd, Courtenay, on Saturday, March 14th at 1:00 p.m.
