Mary "Weezie" Scarlett Obituary

Mary Louise Scarlett (nee Rowe) “Weezie,” passed away peacefully October 9, 2025, in Courtenay BC at the age of 80 after 12+ yrs of vascular dementia. Born in 1945 in Victoria BC, Louise suffered horrific burns as a small child, and severe abuse in a government run institution as a teen. This resulted in lifelong struggle with mental health and addictions. In her later years she was able to overcome these difficulties with proper medication and became someone who lit up the room when she entered.

She was predeceased by her mother Margaret “Peggy” Runsewe in 2024, her father Leonard Rowe in 1985, her brother Earl Rowe in 2005, as well as husbands Paul Reid and Bob Scarlett. Also, her son in law Blair Wick in 2017.

She is survived by her 4 children, Lisa Wick, Kevin Rowe, Tina Rowe, Tyson (Heather) Scarlett. Grandchildren Bryan (Samantha) Theriault, David Theriault, Jesse Berg, Travis Berg, Madison (Riley) Penny, Jacob Rowe, Ethan Rowe, Megan Rowe, David Rowe, Blake, and Mila Scarlett. She had 4 great grandchildren Story Luna, Fin, Calvin Theriault, and Drew Penny.

She also survived by two brothers, Tayo Runsewe and Keith Rowe and several nieces and nephews.

Huge thanks and massive appreciation to the staff at Glacier View Lodge who not only provided amazing care, but saw through her past, didn’t judge and gave her the dignity and respect she needed and deserved. She’s with God, resting and in Peace. She bore her crosses but always believed in God.

Many thanks to Toneff funeral home.

A small private service and scattering of remains has occurred.
