Mary Bell Obituary

Mary died peacefully on April 5, 2021, at Comox Valley Seniors Village.  She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Kathleen, Beth (Murray) and Patricia (Bryan) and grandsons Matthew & Adam (Robyn), Jeremy (Tia), Ryan (Chelsea) & Nathan (Jeannine), as well as great grandchildren, Devyn, Jordyn, Cooper, Zach and Otis.  Mary was predeceased by her parents, Harry & Janet Skinner, and her beloved husband, Peter.

Mary was born and educated in Kirkcaldy, Scotland.  She trained as a secretary and thoroughly enjoyed her work over her career.  One highlight was working for the UN in Geneva.  Mary came to Canada in 1953 with her good friend, May, for a year.  After the year, they came west to Vancouver for another year.  The rest is history.  Mary met Peter in Vancouver and they were married in 1955.

Peter & Mary retired to the Comox Valley in January 1983.  Mary was an active member of St. John the Divine.  Due to Covid-19, no public service will be held at this time. Thank you to Rev Alistair Hunting, Rector of St. John the Divine Anglican Church for his support and prayers.

The family would like to thank all the folk at Abbeyfield and subsequently Comox Valley Seniors Village for making Mum’s latter years good ones.  We also thank her friends (many from St. John the Divine) for continuing to visit her and keep in touch.  Thank you to Dr. Green for caring for Mum in recent years as well as Dr. Gornall until his retirement.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church Street Refugee Group through St. Peter’s Refugee Fund (218 Church St, Comox BC V9M 2G3) or to a charity of your choice.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
