December 18th, 1934 – February 20th, 2021
With her daughters beside her and her favourite songs playing, our Mom finally found peace from her struggles with dementia. Marina was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Ron Lloyd. She leaves behind her daughters Linda (Raj) and Lorelei , her grand daughters Kathleen (Eric) , Lindsey, Samantha (Stephen), Charlea (Jacovey) and her great grandchildren Benjamin, Lily and Sullivan.
Marina was born in Lacombe, Alberta and was the youngest of 7 children. She met her husband at the old J&P store where she was a cashier and Ron was the manager. They bought their first home in Red Deer and ran their first business together , the Corner Store. In 1971 they moved their family to BC where they eventually ended up in Alert Bay and again got into business and ran the R&M Shell fuel dock until the day they retired and moved to Comox. Mom’s passions in life were home, family and friends. Her love of cooking, baking and entertaining will be forever missed by her family. Mom also had a love of music and while she struggled to hold onto her memories of her family and home, music was Mom’s only salvation. Everyone around mom heard her singing these words:
O give me a home where the buffaloes roam
Where the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day
Rest in Peace Mom – say hi to Dad for us and one day we will all meet again for more good times.
Special thanks to Dr. Javaheri and the loving staff at Eden Gardens.
