Marilyn Hicklin Obituary

Marilyn Hicklin

February 25, 1931 – December 17, 2024
Our dear mother, Marilyn Hicklin, passed away peacefully in Nanaimo, BC, on December 17, 2024, with her loving family by her side. She was 93 years old.  She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on February 25, 1931 to parents Karl and Hazel Warburton.

Marilyn was a kind, sweet, caring woman who loved her family dearly. Although she endured many hardships over her life, she had a gentle inner strength and sense of humour that always shone through. She was a teacher and nursery owner in her younger years and had many hobbies such as stained glass, water colour, and home improvement projects, but her favourite was gardening. She loved the beauty of nature and always had a beautiful garden. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Marilyn is survived by her daughters Patricia (Norman) Omsberg, Karla (Tim) Erickson and Holly Hicklin, her sons AJ Hicklin and Doug Hicklin; by her grandchildren Lacy, Jill (Jeff), Renee (Matt), Matthew (Mona), Mark (Gisella) and great-grandchildren Lukas, Finlay, Abbie, Chase, Marian, Gabriel and Joshua; her sisters Karen Dringle and Eleanor Cobb, her sister-in-law Esther Warburton and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Theodore Norman Hicklin, Grant Mundy, her son Michael Hicklin, parents Karl and Hazel Warburton, brothers Farrel Warburton, Gary Warburton, Gene Warburton and Brent Warburton.

At Marilyn’s request there will not be a funeral service. Her immediate family will have an interment of her ashes at the Townsite Cemetery in Nanaimo, BC, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Theodore.

Thank you to the staff at Nanaimo Seniors Village who made her final days comfortable.
