Lucienne Jeanne Marie West

Lucienne West left this earthly realm March 26, 2023. She never stopped fighting, no matter how sick she was, she was always determined to beat whatever came at her. What would have broken others Lucienne pushed through and never complained, showing all who knew her what resilience and perseverance was. There was no quit in Lucienne.

She was born in Périgord, SK, she was one of Lucien and Marthe Dubé’s 11 children. She moved with her family to The Pas when she was 5, could only speak French. She attended Sacred Heart School. When she was a teenager she worked at Allard's Grocery Store, in The Pas and after that MTS in The Pas and Churchill as a telephone operator and later worked at Johnson Terminal in Victoria as an administrative assistant. She moved to Victoria where she met and later married Donald West on February 24, 1966, in Victoria, BC.

Lucienne’s pride and joy was her family. She was more than happy to be the center of her children’s lives. Anyone who knows them knew that she was a star in their eyes, and that was all that ever mattered to her. Lucienne had a big heart and would go out of her way to do something special for people in her life. She had a quick wit, gorgeous smile, incredible sense of humor and fantastic laugh. Lucienne was an incredible cook, meticulous housekeeper and enjoyed preparing meals over the holidays for her family. Lucienne enjoyed baking, gardening, crocheting, sewing, reading, family and friends, a good laugh, and the summer sun.

Lucienne was predeceased by her parents, Lucien and Marthe, siblings Georgette, Andrea, and Norman. Lucienne is survived by her husband Donald, daughter Teresa, son Stuart, son-in-law Warren, 4 grandchildren, and 7 siblings Norbert, Jeannette, Alice, Andi, Bernard, Ronald, and Claudette. Special thanks to the extraordinary medical care and kindness of Dr. Wainberg, nurses at Hospice, CV Hospital, and the Home Care Nurses. There will be a Celebration of Life in July.
