Lawrence “Larry” Arnold Panchuk

(May 7, 1944 - August 31, 2023)

It is with great sadness that we announce Larry’s passing on August 31st at the age of 79. Larry was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Steve, and survived by his loving wife Kari, brother Jerry (Nancy) Panchuk, sisters Elaine (Mike) Stirrup and Stephanie Panchuk, daughters Tamara Asdal and Irene Hansen, grandchildren Mason and Brandan Asdal and Zachary and Syd Olfert, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Larry was born in Wadena, SK, grew up in Windsor, and then to Manitoba where he worked for Manitoba Hydro. In 1970, he moved to Victoria, met his wife, and started working for BC Hydro and Hume & Rumble Electrical. His family moved to Calgary for a few years where he worked for AGT but they longed for the Island so Larry hounded BC Tel until they finally gave him a job in Nanaimo. Larry, along with his good friend Frank Etter, built a sprawling rancher in South Wellington. At the age of 60, he retired from Telus and took up cabinetry - something he really had a passion for.

He was bigger than life itself, had the gift of the gab and always with a smile and a wave.

We will all miss him greatly!
