It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Laura Julie Page, who left us on August 24, 2025, at the age of 58.
Laura graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School, where she enjoyed playing soccer and spending time with friends. She began her working life as a server and later earned her real estate license, which gave her the opportunity to travel. Her proudest moment, however, was becoming a mother to her son, Austin Page. After living abroad, Laura returned to Canada, trained as a florist, and opened her own flower shop, The Rising Son.
Laura faced many challenges in life, including mental health struggles, but she never gave up. With her shoulders back and chin held high, she walked through life with courage, resilience, and a smile. She always put others before herself and found joy in simple but meaningful things: her love of animals and pets, her cooking (a skill learned from her father), flowers, decorating her home, gardening, and long walks.
Her son Austin was the center of her world — they spoke every day, and their bond was her greatest source of happiness.
Laura is survived by her beloved son, Austin; her sister, Arie; her brother, Derek; and her nephews Jered, Curren, and Ciaran.
Laura will be remembered for her generosity, fierce spirit, and her unwavering devotion to those she loved most.
A celebration of Laura’s life will be held on October 25th at 2pm at Chapel Street Hall, 20 Chapel Street, Nanaimo.
