Lorna Rose Eisler (Clifford) was born on July 22, 1933, in New Denver, BC and grew up in Falkland, BC. After graduating high school, she joined the RCAF and met Ronald Eisler, whom she married on April 2, 1954. They raised 5 children (Donald, Douglas, Dennis, David and Diane) in several locations across Canada. Lorna later retired to Vancouver Island and nurtured a passion for sewing that evolved into impressive stuffed animal creations which she sold at local craft fairs and bestowed upon grandchildren. She also had a talent for dried flower arranging and painting colourful water-colour and acrylic landscapes.
Throughout her life, her thirst for knowledge ensured she always had a book on the go. As all the plants and animals she’s ever known can attest to, she was a nurturer by nature and was happiest in her garden (surrounded by bearded irises) or with a cat on her lap. She was kind and generous of spirit, genuinely caring about others and always wanting to help. She loved cooking for those she loved and made a truly amazing pie crust.
After 86 years in this life, Lorna crossed over in the presence of family in Nanaimo, BC on December 27, 2019. She was predeceased by her husband, older brother (Robert Clifford), and eldest son and is survived by her older sister, Betty; her twin, Shirley; 4 children (and spouses); 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and numerous extended family members.
She’ll be remembered as a kind and gentle soul with a great sense of humour… and missed by all who knew her (until we meet again).
Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Otte and the indispensable nurses, care aids and support staff at Kiwanis Village Lodge for their many years of kindness, patience, and friendship towards Lorna during her stay.
