Kevin Ostashek Obituary

Remembering Kevin

Kevin was the youngest son of Lydia and Nick Ostashek, which made him the last attempt at having a daughter. I for one am glad, because you, Don, Terry and Wes would have made ugly girls!
Kevin had a huge heart full of love for his family and friends. If you became friends with Kev, you were friends for life. Kevin was smart, hardworking, dependable and had a heart of gold.
Kevin lived a full and happy life that was always filled with adventure. If you knew Kevin, you knew he loved to fish. Even if that meant walking miles, just to get to that perfect spot. He enjoyed fishing at Naka Creek and Campbell River. He also loved to eat, you wouldn’t know it though by the size of him.
Kevin found his love 24 years ago, when he hooked Christine. Together they built a life that Kevin was proud of. He was especially proud of being Cooper’s Dad. Kevin was always guiding his son through life, making him as Ukrainian as he could be and of course, a fisherman.
Many days were spent fishing as a family and Kevin cherished every one if them.
Kevin didn’t want a big to do. He didn’t even want a eulogy.
Too bad Kev, you don’t always get what you want.
What you do get is this, your words

“Just make it short! You know, Kevin was a great guy, yada yada. (snicker) I want to be with my Mommy, Dad and brother Don. I don’t want an 8 page story – I don’t even want it at all!”

What Kev did want, was to be at home with his loving wife, son and fur babies. On July 2nd, Kevin slipped away and left his pain behind.
So, when you see a calm lake, a clear river or the bottom of the spillway at W.A.C Bennett Dam,
Know that Kevin fished there.
Take a minute to look over the water to remember Kevin and smile. Maybe grab your rod and cast a few.
You might just catch the love of your life, Kevin did.

Without knowing, Kevin was a bit of a legend and you can tell by the number of friends he had. Each and everyone of those friends has a story to tell that starts with, Remember when Kevin….

Hold your memories dear and reflect on them often. KOs charming personality will continue to bring a smile to your face and warmth in your heart.
Kevin leaves behind his beautiful wife and fishing partner, Christine. His pride and joy, Cooper and faithful companions, José, Pepper & BudBud 8th. His brothers, Terry and Wes (Lois), his nephews and their families, many extended family and numerous friends.
He’s predeceased by his Mommy, Dad and big brother Don
Rest in sweet paradise Kevy.
