Kenneth Lloyd Draper

It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, teacher and friend.  Ken passed away peacefully with family at his side in the Palliative Care unit, Nanaimo Regional General Hospital on the morning of March 15, 2021.  He was 79.  He is survived by wife Maureen, son Sean (Kate), daughter Wendy (Chris), grandchildren Dylan and Helen, sister Lorraine (Wayne) and family.  We will treasure the memories he has left us including the many trips and adventures we took over the years from which our children in turn got their love of camping and the outdoors. He learned to curl as a teenager and enjoyed playing for years, especially here in Nanaimo.

Ken was a member of Nanaimo Lodge No. 110, the Nanaimo Shrine Club, and the Scottish Rite.  For several years he was a volunteer driver for the Freemason's Cancer Car program.  In every community we resided in he contributed in many ways to making the community better for all.  

Ken was a prostate cancer patient for many years.  We wish to thank the BC Cancer Agency, and the staff at Nanaimo Hospital's Cancer Clinic for their caregiving over the past few years.

A celebration of life will be held later this year.
