I had to say goodbye to the Love of my life Kenneth Gordon Cook on July 24, 2025. As that was the time he chose to end his fight with Parkinson’s. He was predeceased by his parents Gordie Cook and Eunice Cook nee Simpson. Sisters Karen Dwyer and Leslie Cook.
He is survived by his wife Vicki Westover/Foggitt and her boys Shawn Hutcheson and Patrick Hutcheson and his napping partner Kayla a long-haired Chihuahua who gave him a lot of joy while he was struggling with Parkinson’s as well as all the rest of Vicki’s Family and his beloved nieces and their Families, Laurie McPherson (Mario) and Leslie Wilson.
Ken was born in Penticton, after a few years his family moved to Princeton where he grew up with his best friend from when he was 4 Bert Irwin and as friends do, they got into a lot of mischief. At 16 his parents moved to Victoria, where he finished school and went off to college in Kelowna,
He worked as a Welder on the ships, then he worked for Shaw as a Salesman, he was their top salesman in Red Deer, not surprising as he loved people, then it was back to BC and worked for his friend Bert in Vancouver, from there he went to Qualicum and had 2 Restaurants. And finally at semi, retired he looked after his aging Mom for 2 years until he had to put her in a home, he was there every day, so they decided to hire him to help with all the people there. Everyone loved him.
When Ken was younger, he did a lot of Skiing. He enjoyed writing songs and Poems; he had a way with words.
He loved to sing and would go to Karaoke before his health failed him. He loved Family and Family get togethers and visiting his nieces when they were young. He was Uncle Cookie to them and still is.
There will, be no Service. As Ken had a living Memorial. For 2 days before he went afternoon and evening, he had all kinds of friends and family visit for final farewells and expressions of love. He was so relieved his suffering was coming to an end, he was like his old self, joking and enjoying his company. And then again on the day he left us he had all his family and friends here with him. On the day he left us he played all, his favorite music surrounded by Family and Friends
He loved quality time with Friends and Family So if you would like to do something in his memory, spend time with your family and friends.
We would like to Thank his Dr. graham Hatlelid for his care and Dr. Jonathon Regglar for giving Ken this opportunity to do it his way. It was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.
Thank you to Bert Irwin for being with him all the way and his niece Laurie McPherson and her husband Mario. More Thanks to everyone else who was here to help send him off, (too many to list)
As per his wishes Ken has been cremated and will go to Yates Cemetery, in Parksville beside his Mom, Dad, and sister and where I will join him when my time comes.
Enjoy Life and Love your Family and Friends
