Jurgen Mieles passed away peacefully, with family by his side on September 4, 2022, at the age of 79. He is survived by his wife Glenis, daughter Kerstin (Richard), and grandchildren Maxine and Erika.

Jurgen was born in Beverungen Germany on September 22, 1942. He emigrated to Canada and was so proud to be a Canadian citizen. He moved to Cassiar, BC where he met Glenis; they married in Vancouver in 1974.

They relocated to Vancouver Island in 1974 and eventually settled in Cowichan Bay, BC. Jurgen was a millwright at the Ladysmith mills and was a craftsman who built much of the house and furniture his family enjoyed.

Jurgen loved being near the ocean, working with his hands and spending time with his grandchildren. His laughter and smile were infectious and contrasted with the hard-working and serious person he was. He was incredibly supportive of his family, and he and his wisdom will be greatly missed.

At Jurgens request a public celebration of life will not be held.
