June Moffatt ( Wilcox ) Obituary

We deeply regret to inform you of our loss of Annie June Winnifred Moffatt (née Wilcox) on November 27th, 2025 in Nanaimo B.C.

Born June 2nd, 1928 in Wrightville (Hull), PQ

Preceded by her husband Lt Col Robert T. Moffatt and their son Gordon.

Survived by their 3 children Thomas, Marilyn and Robert, 6 grandchildren St. John, Helene, Pauline, Faustine, Madison and Brogan, 5 great-grandchildren Manon, Lyse, Emma, Julia and Cassie.

Her father was a mechanic instructor in the Airforce and June spent her younger years in Nova Scotia. After in Ottawa, she met Bob in Cumberland where her father had built a summer home on a lot near her aunt and uncle's farmhouse. They were married in April 1947 while Bob was still at McGill University on a COTC program and Tom was born in February. As planned, Bob joined the army and June found herself on the move again as an officer's wife. He was posted every year or two to Camp Borden, Korea, Ottawa, Kingston, Winnipeg, Kingston, Leavenworth KS, Washington DC, Winnipeg, Camp Borden, and Ottawa, where Bob finally retired from the Army to take a job in the Civil Services.

Summer holidays were spent in Cumberland or in Ladysmith, PQ where they had bought a lot and built a cottage on Johnson's Lake not far from those of June's sisters. They also built a house in their hometown in Cumberland and lived there until they decided to follow Marilyn and Bob Jr to Vancouver Island, sold the house in Cumberland and bought one in Nanaimo. That was easier than following Tom to France. After Bob's death in 2017, June moved into Kiwanis, where she was treated royally until her death on November 27th, 2025.

Quietly devout, a loving and beloved wife and mother, devoted to her family, June was also a life long learner with many diverse interests. She worked as a chairside assistant in Ottawa while Bob was away and she was also a prolific writer. Her first novel, “In The Eye Of The Beholder” (her self-proclaimed Covid Project) was published June 11, 2024.

We, June’s family, would like to take this opportunity to express our profound thanks and appreciation to ALL of the warm and professional staff at the Kiwanis Lodge in Nanaimo for the tender loving care and support extended to Mom throughout the many challenges of the past 6 years. We never doubted for a moment that she was in the best of hands and she loved you all. She would want us to say, "Thank you SO much for the many, many kindnesses."

Viewing and Service are being held at Telfords Funeral Service - 112 French St, Ladysmith. Viewing from 10:00 ~ 11:00 with the Service to follow.

Interment will be at a later date in Dale's Cemetery, Cumberland, Ontario.

In lieu of flowers, if you wish, a donation to the Canadian Lung Association in June's name is very much appreciated.
