It is with great regrets we announce that Sonny has passed away in the Campbell River B.C. hospital on July 14, 2020.
He was predeceased by his parents Julius and Ellen Nielsen (Ontario); siblings Gloria (B.C.), Clara (B.C.), John (B.C.), Lloyd (Ontario) and Laura (Ontario).
He is survived by his wife Sandra; daughters Christine (Ontario), Susan (B.C.), Julie (B.C.), Sandy (Germany), Kristin (B.C.); grandchildren Brooklyn (Ontario), Charity, Faith, Jesse (B.C.), Austin, Jarrod, Kayden, Kira (B.C.); great grandchildren Thorin, Arianna (B.C.), Jubilee, Adeline (B.C.); and siblings Nora (Ontario), Carl (B.C.), Sid (B.C.), Dale (Alberta), Ruth (Ontario), Dennis (B.C.), Ann (Ontario).
Sonny was born in Kearns Township, Ontario and began working in construction in New Liskeard Ontario, then moved on to a career as a hard rock miner. He relocated to Campbell River B.C. in 1973. Sonny worked in every province and territory of Canada, with the exception of P.E.I and Alberta, as well as worked in Mexico, England and Idaho. He co-owned N&N Mining with Ed Rozzell and was a well known outboard mechanic.
Sonny always had the coffee on and the crib board ready to go. He will be greatly missed, but forever remembered. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
