Julius Janssen Obituary

Julius Dietrich Janssen passed away peacefully at home on his beloved farm in Black Creek September 8th, 2021, at the age of 88.

Julius will be missed by many; his wife Jeannette of 61 years, son Charles (Nicole) and their four children Alexandria, Monika, Dean and Renae. Son Carl and daughter Julia Klassen (Victor) and their four children Joshua, Savannah, Korrina and Erica. Son Duane (Elizabeth) and their five children Laura, Claire, Angela, Matthew, and Joseph.

His four Great grandchildren, his remaining siblings Alfred, Vern, Grete and Richard and his large extended family and friends.

Julius was born in Bargerfehn Germany June 16th of 1933 to parents Heinrich and Anna Janssen. Julius was an older brother to George, John, Alfred, Vern, Grete, and Richard. When their Father Heinrich passed away at an early age Julius took on a lot of responsibility to help his mother. He emigrated to Canada in 1954 to Halifax Nova Scotia and worked his way across the country to Aldergrove BC where he met his future wife, Jeanette Venema. They married and started a family in 1961, moving to Black Creek with their four young children in 1969 to work long hours on their dairy farm. Ten years later they sold the cows and took up chicken farming until they retired. They enjoyed travelling, often going with their friends to exotic locations or appreciating the luxury of a cruise. Julius enjoyed using his ham radio and liked to fish, spending his free time on the ocean. He loved to read and take naps and was known for his stories, often telling his children and grandchildren tales from his childhood during the war.

Julius's loss will be felt by many who loved him.

A memorial for Julius will be held on Friday October 1st at 12 noon at the Black Creek Hall.
