Joyce Edna (Erickson) Sloat

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Joyce Sloat on Aug 4, 2022.

Joyce was born Jan 29, 1931, in Kelliher, Saskatchewan and passed away peacefully at Discovery Care Home at the amazing age of 91.

Joyce was predeceased by her husband Allan, and her daughter and son in law, Susan and Peter Hrynuik. She is survived by her son Glenn (Karen), grandchildren Terry (Jocelyn), Shawn (Angela), Shari (Greg), Tyson, Travis (Courtney) and great grandchildren Sophie, Shelby, Hayden and Elliot.

Joyce was a well-known person in Campbell River. She was often recognized from her many years of working at the local Sears. She was also an active member of the Ripple Rocket Square Dance Club for many years.  She was always willing to help anyone at the drop of a hat or to whip up a potato salad or matrimonial cake for an event. She always had the cleanest house and the most beautiful flower gardens. She was happiest when she was spending time with family.

Joyce was a major part of so many lives. Her loss will forever leave holes in the hearts of many. We are grateful for the many wonderful memories we have to look back on.

We want to thank the staff of Discovery Care Home for making Joyce’s last months comfortable and to all her amazing friends for being there for her over the years.

A celebration of life with refreshments and snacks will be held on August 20th between 12-4 at 485 Twillingate Road in Campbell River. Please come and share your memories of Joyce and celebrate her long life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the SPCA or CR Paws to honor Joyce’s love of cats.
