Joyce (Mom) was very fond of and grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba where she met and married George, a pilot in the RCAF. Soon after their wedding they were posted to Grostenquin, France with 421 (Fighter) Squadron where their 2 children, Cindy and George Jr. were born. In 1958, Joyce and the little ones crossed the Atlantic back to Canada onboard the passenger ship RMS Ivernia. Together with George back in Manitoba (Gimli, Portage, Winnipeg), they created a warm and loving family home. They later retired to the beautiful Comox Valley. George passed away suddenly in 1981.
Joyce met her second wonderful partner Jim Muckle in 1984. They enjoyed some 30 happy years together and two lovely homes, first in Comox and later Courtenay. Joyce had a passion for flower gardening and also much enjoyed square dancing with Jim, playing cards and hosting friends. Together she and Jim shared many cruise ship ventures and numerous road trips to Arizona during the winter. Jim pre-deceased Joyce in 2014.
Joyce passed away at the North Island Hospital Comox Valley with her daughter Cindy, son George and daughter-in-law Alison by her side. She is survived by Cindy (grandchildren: Carlie, Daniel, Kaitlin) and George (Alison; grandchildren: George 1V, Patrick, Christopher and Wilson; great-grandchildren: Ash, Os, Jasper, Violet, Adrian, Sybil and Emma). She is also survived by Jim’s sons Lloyd (Debbie; granddaughter Arielle) and Neil (Jackie).
