John George Sinclair

January 29, 1941 - July 29, 2025 

John was born on January 29, 1941, in Edinburgh, Scotland. He grew up
in Edinburgh and loved visiting his grandparents' farm in Caithness.
He later earned a BSc from the University of Edinburgh before becoming
a teacher in John O’Groats. Seeking better opportunities, he moved to
Canada, teaching briefly in Montreal before starting a career with
IBM. He met his wife Heather in Calgary and later settled in
Vancouver, where he fell in love with the West Coast. John eventually
joined BC Hydro and raised his family: Sean, Iain, and Alison, in
Richmond, BC. After retiring early, he and Heather moved to their
forever home on Protection Island.

John loved bagpipes, gardening, beekeeping, camping, and above all,
his family. He was a proud grandfather and loved his 8 grandchildren immensely. He will
be deeply missed!

Celebration of Life will be held on August 20, 2025 at the Nanaimo Yacht
Club from 1:30 to 3:30pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation
