It with sadness that we announce the passing of John Willard Kelly on June 6, 2020.
He leaves behind his wife, Joan, of 73 years, four children Anne (Carmen), Jane (Bill), Jean (Randall), David, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a sister, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Warren and Susie Kelly, his daughter Elizabeth (Jim), his brothers Percy and Fred, and his three sisters Mary, Ada, and Margaret.
John, also called Jack, was born on Keswick Ridge where he was raised on a farm. Many fun stories were told of those years. He enlisted during WWII and was based in England before being deployed to Holland and Germany. After the war, he met and married Joan, and they lived for a period in England before moving back to Canada. He re-enlisted in the army, and so began a career in the Royal Canadian Engineers that had the family being transferred to Chilliwack, Germany (England), Oromocto, Ottawa, and finally back to Chilliwack.
John enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and summer camping trips. Retirement enabled many trips overseas that included his favourites to England as well as the States, Holland, China, Ireland, Portugal, and across Canada to visit family.
We would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and paramedics who took such good care of John. Cremation has taken place, and no service will be held.
