Jerry Webb Obituary

Jerry was born on Oct 9, 1945, in Hawthorne, Nevada to Jean Jarrard (Packard) and Clarence Jarrard. They divorced and in 1951 Jean married Jack Webb. This was a second marriage for both of them and a large family was formed. In the late 50's early 60's the family came to B.C. living on the lower mainland and then in Fort St John. When he was a teenager his parents, brothers and sister all went back to the States, but he decided to stay. In 1978 his Mom, Jean would remarry again this time to her old school sweetheart, Fred Conelly and Fred's two children were welcomed into the ever-growing family. While Jerry completed High School, he also worked for the Fort St John RCMP detachment. The detachment became a second home of sorts, and the people that worked there became a second family to him. He married Jeanne on April 28, 1972. Jeanne's brother Jim, who was a RCMP Constable at the detachment introduced Jerry to Jeanne.

Their daughter Candice was born in Edmonton just before Christmas the following year.

In 1974 he became an RCMP Auxiliary Constable and continued until 1980. In 1975, he graduated from the BCIT Deputy Sheriffs course.

Jerry, Jeanne, and Candice moved to Surrey in 1978, staying there for a few years before Jerry was posted to Quesnel.

Jerry's side of the family mostly remained in the States but every so often his Mom, Jean would hold a family reunion in Hawthorne. There was always a great deal of food, laughter and copious amounts of picture taking (in triplicate) from his Mom.

Camping was something Jerry enjoyed immensely, and he loved spending time outdoors. Oh, and cars (well, almost any type of vehicle really...) was a subject he truly enjoyed learning about. New or old it didn't matter, although he did love a good outdoor classic car show.

The last house Jeanne and Jerry lived in was in Quesnel, they built themselves and they remained there until 1996. At that point Jerry had been working for the Sherriff Service since 1975.

After he was medicaled out he and Jeanne moved to the Okanagan for a couple of years before moving to Vancouver Island for good.

Not long after moving to the island he had to give up camping because it was simply getting too hard for him. But he still enjoyed working outside, doing yard work or just "puttering around".

He was known for his big heart, kind nature, love of a good conversation and of course his love for animals. He was always willing to help friends and neighbours alike.

In his work he was well known for his ability to deescalate difficult situations and for his sometimes mischievous but laid-back personality. There were many times people who met him in their worst moments would come back to thank him for the way he treated them.

In leu of flowers, a donation to the BC Lung Foundation or the Comox Valley Healthcare Foundation (for the Pulmonary Care Unit) would be greatly appreciated.
