Jack Dixon Obituary

DIXON, Jack Hugh - Jan 28, 1937 to May 5, 2025

It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of Jack Dixon.  Jack passed away peacefully, with his daughters at his side, at his home in Berwick Parksville at the age of 88.

Loved by all, predeceased by wife Rachel, he leaves behind his daughter's Corrine and Rhonda, son-in-law Ernie, grandchildren Kyle, Chelsea, Eric and Julie, great-grandchildren Maddison, Summer and Colton, sister Doris & brother Bill, numerous other relatives and an abundance of friends.  Many thanks to Jeff and Gwen for their support and friendship.

In 1981 Jack left his job as Superintendent of the Prince George Pulp Mill to move to Vancouver Island. He decided to pursue Real Estate at this time but found it was too much of a dog eat dog business so his heart was not in it. He decided to try yet another new venture with his best friend and neighbour, and they successfully opened up one of Vancouver Island's first eye glass manufacturing labs, Island Optical Laboratories.

Jack's love for the game of golf and curling was well known by all who knew him as he retired at the age of 55 and traded in the office for the golf course and curling rink. . His love of the sports were made complete for him with the friends he played them with.  Jack was very social, always greeting people with a smile and known for his quick wit. Coffee and breakfast with the guys on Tuesday and Saturdays brought him many laughs and great memories. A shout out to all of you.

Jack loved his family dearly as they did him. He will always be remembered for his generosity, compassion, intellect and of course, his sense of humour. He will be greatly missed by all.

A private, family only, Celebration of Life will take place in June. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkinson Canada.  Please feel free to share stories about Jack, here on the Telford Funeral page, as we would love to hear them and read them out at his Celebration of Life.
