Irene Long Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Irene Long, on September 10, 2020.

Irene was born on January 23, 1922 on her family farm in the Ottawa Valley. It was there that she became very fond of the farming lifestyle and embraced the hard work which came with it. She was always out in the garden or down at the barn. She would spend the winter months collecting sap in the sugar bush, bringing it back with the team of horses to produce the family’s own maple syrup. It was in 2002 that Irene made a huge life change & moved to British Columbia, settling in the Comox Valley to be with her daughter & family. This was a whole new adventure, relaxing on the West Coast & soaking up the sunshine. Irene was still very active, exploring the beach & taking walks through the forest trails. In her later years, she attended Glacier View Lodge, where she got to visit with others in a social setting, make crafts, & attend church services. Irene was happiest around family & friends. She will be truly missed, & always in our hearts.

Irene is predeceased by husband Arnold Long, sons Malcom & Geddes Long.

She is survived by her daughter Isabelle (Mike), daughter in laws Pat & Jane Long, Ella, grandchildren Susi, Sandi, Shannon, Kurt, Shari, Alexis, Kristy & Marlee, & great-grandchildren Dylan, Teigen, Talia, Kalen, Andreas, Alex, Airees, Alena, Tamson, Taran, Keaton, Nikolas, Jacob, Isaac, Sierra, Noah & Liam.

Given the restrictions imposed by Covid-19, a family gathering will take place at a later date in Ontario.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
