Helen Adie Obituary

Helen Estella (Redden) Adie passed away at Comox Valley Seniors Village in Courtenay BC on July 6, 2025. She was 96.

Helen is predeceased by her parents Emerson Redden and Winnie (Meister) Redden, her husband Jim, daughter Janice, 15 siblings and her son-in-law Glenn Gibson. She is survived by her brother Harold (Clara) Redden, Cambridge NS, her sister-in-law Margaret Anderson, Clearwater BC and many nieces and nephews.

She leaves a legacy of very special memories for her daughter, Jocelyn Newton, Ottawa; son Peter (Lila), Campbell River BC; daughter Carol Gibson, Tsawwassen BC and sons Mike and Robby, both from Comox BC; grandchildren, Lia Newton (Steve Graham) and James Newton, Ottawa; Brett Gibson (Jenn) and Ryan Gibson, Tsawwassen. And great-grandchildren Robert, Katherine, Madilyn, Lily, and Maverick.

Helen was born in Windsor NS on July 3, 1929. In 1950 she married Jim Adie, who was stationed with the RCAF in Greenwood NS at that time. During Jim’s service career, they enjoyed living in Greenwood, Zweibrücken Germany, Ottawa, and Comox. Helen made good friends each step of the way.

After settling in Comox 52 years ago, Helen worked at Sears before becoming a sought-after Tupperware sales consultant across the Valley. Known to many as "Helen Adie the Tupperware Lady", she hosted home parties throughout the region and built a successful career as a manager.

Helen and Jim enjoyed social events at the 888 Wing, Sergeants’ Mess and Comox Legion with family and friends.

Snowbirds for 25 years, they drove south each winter and spent many years in Apache Junction, AZ. Helen loved the desert landscape, clear blue skies, and early morning swims under the palm trees. She swam so early that other residents joked that she could chip the ice off the pool - a true Canadian.

A sharp Scrabble player, Helen was known for her skill and love of the game. She also enjoyed card games with friends and family and was an avid bridge player at d'Esterre Seniors' Centre.

In recent years at Comox Valley Seniors Village Helen took joy in singalongs, word games and Bingo. Her family extends heartfelt thanks to the kind and caring staff of Comox Valley Seniors Village and to her long-time caregiver and friend, Denise Morrison of Classic Life. They are also grateful to Dr. Doug Anderson, Helen's long-time family physician for his dedicated care.
