It is with mixed emotions that we announce the passing of our brother Harold “Darcy” Foley. Darcy was born on October 4, 1966.
He was a normal brother, pestering his sisters and claiming innocence with his big blue eyes. He was famous for tormenting the next-door neighbor by gathering garter snakes and letting them loose the day he left for boy scout camp so that “Fiona” the cat, would bring all of those snakes inside her house! You could hear the screams for blocks in every direction.
Despite loving to pick on his sisters he was fiercely protective of us, and one time knocked out the neighbor boy for picking on me. He remained a true and loyal friend to those that were lucky enough to know him during his good years. Friends recall his love of fishing, spending time on motorbikes, and lots of laughs with a few beer.
Darcy touched the lives of so many. He took after our dad as he was extremely kind, gentle and generous. Unfortunately, Darcy got involved with drugs, and because of this, he left many special people behind. Darcy died on October 23rd at the Nanaimo Hospital.
He is survived by his daughter Caroline Sinclair (Chris Payne) and their two sons Taylor and Brayden. Sadly, Darcy never met his grandsons. He also leaves behind his sisters Kelli (Stu) Hartman and Paula (John) Cavers, and numerous nieces and nephews, aunties, uncles, cousins and friends.
Though we are heartbroken that we have lost our beautiful brother, we are relieved that his life of suffering is over.
