December 13, 1938 ~ February 20, 2026

With her husband of 66 years and loved ones by her side, Gwendolyn Mary Smith (nee Grafton) passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026.

Gwen was predeceased by her parents; Joseph and Judy as well as brother Geoff.

She will be lovingly remembered by many, especially Husband; Mervin, Sons; Randy (Cheryl) & Kevin (Chris) Grandchildren; Sydney (Mark) & Colby (Alana) Brother; Brian (Sylvia), Sister; Dorcas (Jack) and numerous extended family members.

Gwen was born December 13, 1938 in Duncan BC. She grew up in various parts of BC before the family settled in Ladysmith. She married the love of her life Mervin in 1959 and together they built a home and raised their two sons on Davis Road.

If you enjoy hiking & walking you would see Gwen & Merv on the local trails, sometimes accompanied by their Grand Doggies!! Gwen loved her boys and grandchildren which was evident by the smile on her face and the laughter in the room when they would visit.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Doctors and Nurses of the Cowichan District Hospital.
