Glen possessed a keen knowledge of War History and was very proud to have served on many Honour Guards at War Memorials in Europe. After returning to Canada, he was deployed to Cyprus on a six-month UN tour.

In 1973, Glen transferred to the Airforce as an Air Observer, receiving his AESOP Wings in January 1974. He accumulated 7800 flying hours on the Argus, Aurora, Tracker, and SeaKing Helicopter.
